Do you remember your first find? What made it so memorable?
Was it the anticipation, the item extracted or the feeling that this machine really worked .
“ Yes, I did it!”
Most likely you didn’t hit silver or gold but a bottle cap or pull tab.
My first was a clad nickel but it didn’t matter; I was hooked. I always found myself thinking about my next hunt.
Excitement filled the air as I was on my way to the selected site of the day . What will I find today ?
Did I remember all my gear?
Of course I did, I was playing with it all the night before. My wife rolling her eye’s every time I tested my gear.
“Camera…check .” “This NEWBIE is going to school you on how to find silver.”
How about filming a live dig finding your first quarter from 1999 and calling your machine a BEAST because of it!
We’ve all been there.
But where haven’t you been NEWBIE’S?
One place is online getting info on your detector or in a test garden working on a program for your machine or doing research on hot sites.
This hobby is great but you need to put time into it to get to the good stuff, like relics, silver coins, cool tokens, pocket watches, civil war buttons and bullets .
Complaining and going from detector to detector won’t cut it.
But the best thing about this hobby, everyone wants to help you. From forums, websites, Facebook and you tube, etc.
And soon you will be the one giving advice.
So if you’re a Newbee… have patience.
For the seasoned hunter, remember you were a newbie once.
This is Dave D. of The GDA Podcast and Team XP saying ….
Happy hunting everyone. Give your silver finds a kiss and get STOKED! It’s time to detect.
